COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Erskine College women's basketball team (1-15, 1-13 CC) lost in the opening round of the NCCAA South Regional, 68-65 to hosts Columbia International University (14-15, 10-12 AAC) on Tuesday night.

THE SERIES
Erskine and Columbia International University had never met before tonight.

THE GAME
The Rams came prepared for postseason play as they scored the game's first 10 points. Facing a 10-point deficit, the Fleet responded. Erskine went on a 9-1 run, led by Kitara Henry's six points, to make it an 11-9 game with 2:37 to play in the opening frame. The Rams led 16-9 after the first, but faced a two-point deficit at the break as the Fleet scored a game-high 28 points in the second quarter. Mariah Corry scored 15 of her 17 points in the second quarter to give the Fleet a 37-35 halftime lead. The Rams won the third quarter by three, 16-13, due to a late 3-pointer by Jordin McQueen. The three gave the Rams a 51-50 lead entering the fourth quarter. Down the stretch, the Rams executed a few more plays. The Fleet led 63-61 with 4:50 to play as neither team would score for nearly a minute and a half. After CIU tied it, Anzya Cook scored the Fleet's final points of the season, a jumper with 2:50 left. The Fleet held 65-63 lead until Zion Neat sank a 3-pointer with just a minute to play. Although the Fleet had a look from Megan Jones to tie, the Rams closed out the game with a pair of made free throws to win 68-65.
 
THE PLAYER
Mariah Corry led the scoring effort tonight for the Fleet, finishing with 17 points along with five rebounds. Corry was 6-11 from the floor including 4-11 from 3-point range.

THE TEAM
Erskine shot 23-70 (33.9%) from the field and was 11-36 (30.6%) from the 3-point line. The Fleet were 8-15 (53.3%) from the free throw line. CIU outrebounded Erskine by two, 46-44 while both teams collected eight steals.
