CENTRAL, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (2-13, 2-13 CC) lost its 2021 season finale by a score of 88-60 at Southern Wesleyan University (9-4, 9-4 CC) on Thursday night.

THE SERIES
Erskine still leads the all-time series 10-6, but the Warriors have now won four straight after sweeping the Fleet this year.
THE GAME
The Fleet led for the opening eight minutes of the game after
Justin Morton scored the first seven points of the game. But the Warriors overcame the early deficit with a 20-2 run to take a 37-18 lead. The Fleet cut into the Southern Wesleyan lead a bit but trailed 41-24 at the half. Morton answered a Warriors three with one of his own in the beginning of the second half, Southern Wesleyan pulled away in the middle stages of the half. This time it was a 20-6 run for the hosts that put the game beyond reach. Brooks scored 15 of his 19 points in the final 10:30 of the game, but the Fleet fell by a final score of 88-60.
THE PLAYER
Emandi Brooks scored a game-high 19 points on 7-11 shooting, including 3-6 from beyond the arc and was 2-3 from the free throw line. Brooks also grabbed five rebounds and tallied the only Erskine block.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 24-66 (36.4%) from the field and was 5-26 (19.2%) from the three-point line. The Fleet were 7-9 from the free throw line, and outrebounded Southern Wesleyan 37 to 31. But, Erskine turned the ball over 14 times, which the Warriors converted into 26 points.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet did not qualify for the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament, as only the top 8 seeds make the field, so Erskine's season comes to an end.
