WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the first time in program history, the Erskine College men's track and field team sent an individual participant to compete in a professional race.
Â
Erskine sophomore
Jensen Button ran a 1:25.49 in Saturday's Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track finishing second overall.
Â
"Jensen represents everything great about our program in terms of his work ethic, academic prowess and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win," head coach
Dylan Anderson said. "He earned the right to be in this meet against high level competition and get a great race under his belt before the conference championships on Monday."
Â
Button finished ahead of region opponent Kyle Stanley of Tusculum who finished in 1:26.71.
Â
Button previously qualified for the Camel City Invitational by finishing the 600m run in 1:24.54 at the Rams Invitational two weekends ago.

Â
Button now joins the rest of his teammates who are preparing for Monday's Indoor Conference Carolinas Championships.
