HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Shorter set the tone early in-front of a home crowd of over 1300, by forcing the Fleet into an early 3-and-out on their first possession after receiving the opening kickoff.  The Hawks then, strung together a touchdown drive, starting on their own 30 yard line, that lasted 11 plays and went for 70 yards to gain a 7-0 lead.  Erskine was then forced into another 3-and-out situation that allowed Shorter to capitalize and push the lead to 10-0 on a 33 yard field goal attempt before the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter:
Erskine began the second with an impressive stop on 4th-and-1 as Wayne Gibson broke through the line to stop Shorter short of the first down.  At this point, neither team seemed to be able to move the ball until Shorter broke the streak with a 25 yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 17-0.  Shorter then followed up with a 99 yard touchdown drive to end the half and go up 24-0.

Third Quarter:
Shorter received the ball to open the half, and after marching down the field into Fleet territory, elected to attempt a 37 yard field goal on 4th-and-2.  On the attempt, a sea of Fleet defenders burst through the line, led by Jaavan Mack, blocking the kick.  Zacoyeis Elmore scooped the loose ball and proceeded to return it all the way to the Shorter 4 yard line.  On the ensuing play, Josh Heatley ran the ball in to put the Fleet on the board and cut the Shorter lead, 24-7.  However, the Hawks answered quickly and assertively with a 14 play, 75 yard drive to put the game all but out of reach heading into the 4th quarter.

Fourth Quarter:
Shorter proceeded to score with 4:23 left in the game, to push the lead to 38-7 and finish off the Fleet.
