Jaywaun Washington, and
Jordan Watson combined for 61 points but it wasn't quite enough as the King Tornado escaped with a 97-95 overtime win over the Fleet. It was the second time this season the Tornado had bested the Fleet by one possession in overtime. Erskine shot a scorching 57.8% from the field and a season best 10-23 from the three point line. Smoot connected on 5-8 three point attempts as he led the Fleet scoring with 23. Washington added 21 shooting 9-12 from the field and snaring 10 rebounds. Watson poured in 18 on 6-11 shooting. Junior
Malcolm Green added 20 for the Fleet.
The Tornado's Jordan Floyd, the nation's leading scorer at 31 points per game, scored 47 points, including the game winning jumper with four seconds remaining. Floyd missed on a 25 footer in regulation that sent the game to overtime. Floyd averaged 45 points a game against Erskine this season.
The loss drops Erskine to 8-17 and 4-14 in Conference Carolinas play. The Fleet will not qualify for the Conference Carolinas Tournament but have two games remaining on teh road. Erskine will play Saturday at Belmont Abbey.
