Burlington, NC – Erskine pounded out 12 hits in a 5-1 victory over North Greenville in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas softball tournament Thursday morning.
In the bottom of the second,
Britton Young would pick up a one out single and
Julia Cole would pinch run for her. After
Chandler Crawford laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Cole into scoring position,
Christine Long would single to left to score Cole and give Erskine the lead. In the third inning
Sydney Smith and
Lydia Trexler would lead off the inning with back to back doubles to make it 2-0 and an RBI single by Young would make it a three run game. The Fleet would extend their lead to five on an RBI single by Smith and RBI double by Trexler.
Trexler was 2-4 with two doubles, two RBI's and a runs scored, while Smith was 3-4 with a run driven in and two runs scored.
Reagan Davis was 3-3 with a double and Young was was 2-3 with an RBI.
Candace Fitch (11-9) picked up the win allowing one run on two hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.
