Erskine Falls to Lees-McRae

Banner Elk, NC – The Flying Fleet lost a Conference Carolinas double header to Lees-McRae Tuesday afternoon.  The Bobcats won game one 5-3 and game two 2-1.

Game One

In the top of the third Christine Long would draw a walk to lead off the inning and Julia Cole would pinch run for her.  Mia Blochviak would lay down a sacrifice bunt to advance Cole into scoring position and she would score on a single up the middle by Reagan Davis to give the Fleet a 1-0 lead.  Erskine would continue to lead until the bottom of the sixth when Lees-McRae exploded for five runs to take the lead.  Erskine would score two run in the top of the seventh but it would not be enough as the Bobcats held on for the win.

Davis and Long each had one hit and one RBI to lead the Erskine offense.  Danica Newton (7-5) took the loss allowing three runs on three hits in 5.1 innings of work.

Game Two

Lees-McRae would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and hold that lead until the top of the sixth.  In the top of the sixth Brittany Rhinehardt would lead off with a bunt single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Sydney Smith to tie the game.  The Bobcats would score on a walk off double in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.

Rhinehardt, Brittany Reynolds, and Lydia Trexler all had one hit each for the Fleet.  Candace Fitch (10-7) took the loss allowing two runs on 11 hits and striking out five in six innings of work.
