Erskine Sweeps Lincoln Memorial

Due West, SC – The Erskine College softball team swept a non-conference double header from Lincoln Memorial Saturday, winning game one 6-4 and game two 3-2.

Game One

Reagan Davis would lead off the bottom of the first with a single and scored on a single by Sydney Smith to give the Fleet the early lead.  Erskine would score two more runs in the second to increase their lead to three, but Lincoln Memorial would score four unanswered runs to take the lead.  Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Smith and Chandler Crawford would reach base to lead off the inning and with one out, Jacquie Hill would blast a three run home run to put Erskine up 6-4 and the Fleet would hold on for the win.

Mia Blochviak was 2-2 with an RBI for the Fleet, while Hill was 1-3 with three RBI's and two runs scored.  Kaylin White (1-1) picked up the win allowing just one hit in 2.1 innings of relief work.

Game Two

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Brittany Reynolds would single with one out and Smith would reach on an error.  Crawford would then single to score Reynolds and Lydia Trexler would lay down a sacrifice bunt to score Smith and give Erskine a 2-0 lead.  Crawford would hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it a 3-1 game and Erskine would hold on for the victory.

Crawford was 2-3 with a home run and two RBI's, while Reynolds, Hill, Christine Long and Brittany Rhinehardt each had a hit.  Candace Fitch (4-2) picked up the win allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out six.
