Due West – The Erskine College Flying Fleet defeated the Bruins of Bob Jones University 76-64 tonight in non conference action. The victory is the Fleet's 5
th in a row and 7
th in the last 8 games.
The first quarter started slow for the Fleet on both ends of the court. Bob Jones roared out to a 14-2 lead behind four 3-pointers. The final 3:24 were all Fleet.
Raygon Hendrix hit two 3-pointers and
Kristin Giles hit one 3-pointer to bring the Fleet back in it.
At the conclusion of the first half the Fleet held a 28-23 advantage over Bob Jones. Erskine was led by
Raygon Hendrix's 12 points, and
Kristin Giles' 7 points. At one point the Fleet trailed 14-2 but went on a 19-0 run to get back in the driver's seat. Erskine shot 25.7% from the field to Bob Jones' 24.3%.
The second half presented polar opposite quarters. Erskine bested Bob Jones 19-11 in the 3
rd quarter, and Bob Jones out played Erskine 30-29 in the 4
th quarter.
Kristin Giles and
Raygon Hendrix led the Fleet with 20 points while
Raygon Hendrix also accumulated 8 rebounds.
Megan Davis played some quality minutes scoring 5 points and leading Erskine with 4 assists.
The Erskine women look to continue their winning ways this Saturday as they take on the Saints of Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M.
