Due West, S.C. – The Pfeiffer University Falcons (11-4, 4-2) downed the Erskine Flying Fleet (3-8, 2-5) 8 to 1 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Complex.
 
In the doubles matches, the Fleet challenged the Falcons in every match but lost all three.  Eddie Gullino and Benny Uy (Inman, SC, Boiling Springs High School) were edged 9 to 7 at #3 doubles while Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) and Andre Andre (Setubal, Portugal) were defeated 8 to 6 at #2 doubles.  Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) and Jason Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) suffered their first loss at #1 doubles, falling  8 to 4.
 
Erskine dropped five of the six singles matches. Mathewes won his match at #2 singles in straight sets for the Fleet's point.
 
Erskine will travel to Hilton Head Island after classes tomorrow to play two matches.
