Lock's Late Three Gives Erskine 89-86 Win in Season Opener

Due West, SC – Sophomore Ray Lock hit a three point basket with just under five seconds left in the game to break an 86-86 tie and give Erskine the win over Newberry in the second game of the Red Myers Little Four Classic.

The Fleet shot 54.5% from the field in the first half, but still trailed the Wolves by four at the break.  Newberry (0-1) would increase their lead to seven two minutes into the half, but back to back three pointers by Joby Glymph would cut the lead to one.  Glymph would hit another three point basket with 13:30 left in the game to tie the game at 60, but the Xavier Woods would hit one out of two free throws to put the Wolves  up by one.  One minute later Thomas Nolan would drain a three to give Erskine (1-0) its first lead since the first two minutes of the game.  The Fleet would push their lead to as many as eight, but a jumper by Gerald Evans with under a minute left would tie the game at 86.  Lock would then receive the pass from Glymph and knock down the three to give Erskine the win.

Glymph led all scorers with 32 points and team high six rebounds while Lock added 20 points.  Brannon Dark also added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.
The Fleet return to action tomorrow in the final game of the Red Myers Classic as they host Coker College at 1:30 PM.
