DUE WEST-- The Pfeiffer women's soccer team overcame a 3-1 second half deficit to defeat Erskine, 4-3, on a beautiful Homecoming Saturday at Huggins Field. Erskine took the lead early in the contest on a goal by freshman Robin Martin. Martin headed in a perfect Taylor Bush cross to give the lead for a brief moment. Pfeiffer responded 35 seconds later on a goal by Katlyn Stevens. Bush put the Fleet up 2-1 at the 24:38 mark when she hit a floater from 25 yards out over Pfeiffer goalie Gracie Herbert. Erskine extended the lead to 3-1 three minutes into the 2nd half when senior Brittany Jakeila converted a penalty kick. From that point on, Pfieffer's Aaliyah Jackson took over, scoring twice and assisting on a third goal. Jackson converted the game winner at 84:20 on an assist from Stevens. The loss was the Fleet's fourth straight one goal loss. Pfeiffer managed to fire 21 shots on the afternoon to Erskine's 9. Senior goalie Ashton Burgess made several key saves in the match's final 20 minutes before Jackson's goal. Erskine falls to 1-12 on the season and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas play.
