Box Score Banner Elk, N.C. – The Lees-McRae Bobcats (10-7, 5-5) used a late run to defeat the Erskine Flying Fleet (7-10, 3-7) 84 to 76 tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Williams Gymnasium.
In a game that featured nine lead changes and eight ties, the final outcome was not decided until the closing minutes. Erskine was within a basket with four minutes remaining. Sophomore
Brandon Wilkerson (Summerville, SC, Summerville High School) threaded a nice pass to freshman
Ray Lock (Aiken, SC, Oak Hill Academy) under the basket for a layup that brought the Fleet within two.
The Bobcats scored seven unanswered on their next three possessions to seal the victory. Jacquise Moore drilled a three-point shot and, following an Erskine miss, added two more points on free throws by Sean Deniton.
Erskine's
DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School), a senior, poured in a game-high 25 points while Lock contributed 19 points and a game-high 9 boards.
The Bobcats had four players finish in double-figures, led by Moore's 16 points. Kendall Isler came off the bench to score 15 points while Darius Malbon had 14 points.
Erskine will complete their stretch of four straight road games this weekend. On Friday the Flying Fleet will play Pfeiffer University followed by a game against Belmont Abbey on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
