Box Score Due West, S.C. - The Erskine College Flying Fleet (7-5, 3-0) continued conference play tonight with a decisive 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-17) win over the Valkyries of Converse College (5-9, 0-3) in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action at Belk Arena.
 
The Flying Fleet got off to a sizzling start winning 13 of the first 17 points to take a 13 to 4 led over the Valkyries. Converse Coach Regina Poppie called a timeout to slow the Fleet's momentum; however, the Fleet continued their offensive surge, winning the first set 25 to 15 in a convincing fashion.
 
The Valkyries played with more intensity in the second set, but the Fleet outlasted their effort. Erskine went on an eight to three run in the middle of the second set to gain energy. The Fleet continued that energy to take the second set 25 to 18.
 
Erskine won a hard fought third set 25 to 17 to capture their third conference win of the season. With the win, Erskine jumps to first place in the South Division of Conference Carolinas standings.
 
Erskine's Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) directed an efficient Fleet attack, handing out 26 assists on the night.  Marissa Greenough (Laguna Beach, CA, Laguna Beach High School), Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School), and Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) were a triple threat offense for the Fleet having nine, eight, and eight kills respectively.
 
A normal offensive power for Erskine, Bullock, also led the Fleet defensively with 10 digs.
 
Converse's Katie Butler led the Valkyries with 12 kills, and Aubrey Crosby led the team with a game-high 20 digs.
 
Senior Caitlin Bullock remarked after the game, "I think it's a different team from last year. We are playing with great attitudes and taking every opponent seriously. I am excited for the rest of the season!"
 
Erskine stays at home to play conference foe Limestone College tomorrow.  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
