Box Score Wilson, N.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (6-5, 2-0) crushed conference foe the Bulldogs of Barton College (3-8, 1-1) 3 to 0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) this afternoon in women's volleyball action at Wilson Gymnasium.
While neither team hit the ball well, Erskine had a .180 to Barton's .155 hitting percentage, Erskine held a distinct advantage in service aces. Erskine served a season-high 14 aces in the match. Seniors
Emily Kennington (Jefferson, SC, Louisburg College) and
Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) had five aces each while
Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Lander University) had three. Barton managed just five aces over the three sets.
Dodge once again did a superb job directing the Erskine attack from her setter position. The sophomore transfer had 27 assists and 11 digs, earning her seventh double-double in eleven games. Junior
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) smashed 10 kills on just 17 attempts to lead the Fleet offensively. She also had 3 blocks. Sophomore
Kendall Kirk (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) continued her stellar season on the back row, contributing a team-high 15 digs.
After playing their first eleven games on the road, Erskine will finally play in the friendly confides of Belk Arena next weekend. The Fleet will host in-state conference foes Converse College on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Limestone on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is free to all home Erskine women's volleyball events.
