Erskine drops two games at Columbus State Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Columbus, Ga. – The Erskine Flying Fleet dropped two games by the same score of 3 to 1 to Lenior-Rhyne and University of Montevallo today in the Columbus State Women's Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the Lumpkin Center.
 
In both games, senior Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) led the Flying Fleet knocking down a game-highs of 22 and 15 kills while sophomore setter Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) added two double-doubles of 39 assists and 10 digs and a season-high 47 assists and 18 digs.  Bullock's 22 kills against Lenior-Rhyne were a season-high.
 
Against Lenior-Rhyne, Erskine won the first set 25 to 20 behind four of Bullock's game-high 22 kills.  The Fleet struggled offensively in the next two sets, hitting just -.051 and .119 respectively.  In the fourth set, Erskine lost 25 to 23 despite Bullock's 8 kills.
 
In the next game, Erskine again won the first set.  Freshman Catherine McAlister (Charleston, SC, Bishop England School) led the Fleet with 5 of her 9 kills in the set.   Like the previous game, the Flying Fleet were clipped in the next three sets.  SophomoreMarissa Greenough (Laguna Beach, CA, Laguna Beach High School) had a season-high 14 kills while Sade Mendez (Gardena, CA, Redondo Union High School) finished with 10 kills.
 
With the two losses, the Flying Fleet slip to 4-5 overall.
 
Erskine travels to next weekend to face the University of Mount Olive and Barton College.  It will be the first two conference games of the season for the Fleet.
