Erskine Men's Basketball seeks to snap midseason slump Saturday

Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Men's Basketball Team (11-8, 55) seeks to snap a midseason slump this Saturday against the visiting Bobcats of Lees-McRae College (6-14, 1-9).  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.

Erskine is currently mired in a four-game losing skid, averaging just 61.5 points per game on 34.3% shooting from the field during this stretch.

Despite the Fleet's recent offensive struggles, defensively the Fleet still rank first in fewest points allowed in the conference at 67 points per game.

The Flying Fleet have three players averaging in double-figures, led by sophomore Roderick Perkins' 24.9 points per game.  Senior point guard Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Boone County High School) is second on the team, averaging 11.7 points while averaging 4.7 assists per game, third best in the conference.  Senior marksman Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) is third on the team, averaging 10.3 points per game.

Senior post player Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) continues to dominate the boards, pulling down over 11 rebounds per game, second best in the conference.

The Bobcats will look to snap their 10-game losing skid Thursday against non-conference foe Warren Wilson College.  The Bobcats average more than 83 points per game, 2nd best in the conference, but also surrender points at an alarming rate, over 89 points per game, last in the conference.

With their fast pace offensive style, the Bobcats have five players averaging in double-figures, led by freshman shooting guard Mike Chambers at 18.6 points per game.  Junior forward Darryl Bond averages 12.2 points per game while leading the Bobcats on the boards at 8.1 rebounds per game.  Senior point guard Darius Smith also averages double-digits at 10.1 points per game and hands out 4.1 assists per game.

Saturday is also FCA Day and all Lakeland FCA Huddle Groups are invited to attend the games and stay for a time of worship and fellowship afterwards.
