Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet were crowned Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Champions after trouncing the Tornado of King University (22-11) in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-21) tonight at Belk Arena.
With the win, the Flying Fleet not only set a new school record for most wins in a season at 21 but also clinched the automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament that starts next Friday. It is the first NCAA Regional appearance for the Erskine Women's Volleyball Team.
In a made for movie moment, senior
Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) smashed home the game-winning point that gave the Flying Fleet their first-ever conference championship. Bullock, the tournament Most Valuable Player, finished with a game-high 14 kills, 6 digs and 2 service aces. Junior middle hitter Kelly Sullivan contributed 13 kills, 4 digs, 2 blocks and 3 service aces. Sophomore setter
Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) also had a big night, handing out 36 assists along with a game-high 15 digs and 3 blocks.
Joining Bullock on the all-tournament team were Dodge and sophomore libero
Kendall Kirk (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School). Dodge averaged a double-double through the tournament while Kirk proved to be a backboard, averaging double-digit digs through the tournament.
Erskine will learn their fate in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament on Monday.
