Due West, S.C. – With last night's win, Erskine will host the last two remaining rounds of 2014 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
The two semi-final games will be played on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with the two winners advancing to the championship game on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $7 per person.
Erskine will play in the nightcap of the two semi-final matches against the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College, the #2 seed out of the Northern Division. The Flying Fleet's offense is directed by sophomore setter
Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School). Dodge currently ranks second in the conference averaging 10.20 assists per set. Dodge has several offensive weapons at her disposal, including two players who rank in the top 10 in the conference in kills per set. Senior outside hitter
Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) leads the Fleet, averaging 3.64 kills per set, fourth best in the conference, while junior middle hitter
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) is averaging 3.03 kills per set, ninth best in Conference Carolinas.
Lees-McRae (19-9) has won five of their last six games, including a 3 to 2 victory over the Flying Fleet last Friday. The Bobcats are led by Jariliz Cotte's 3.64 kills and 3.07 digs per set. Defensively the Bobcats also possess two of the conference's better blockers in Siarra Walker and Jordan Banta, who average just under a block a set at 0.85 and 0.80 respectively.
In the first semi-final game, King University, the North Division Champion, plays Limestone, the second seed from the Southern Division. King University (21-10) enters Friday's semi-final game having won their last five games in a row, four coming on the road, including a 3-1 victory over the Flying Fleet last Saturday. King University is led by senior outside hitter Summer Kremer, who is averaging 4.50 kills and 3.22 digs per set. King also has the top setter in league, Olivia Underwood, who averages a league-leading 10.89 assists per set.
Their opponent, Limestone (16-15) enters the contest having won their last six games by the same score of 3-0. The Saints last loss came back on October 25
th to the Erskine Flying Fleet. The Fleet had to rally from two sets down to win the match 3 to 2. The Saints are led by freshman outside hitter Rycki Ebert. Ebert is averaging 3.22 kills and 2.24 digs per set.
