Box Score 2 Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet split their two volleyball games today, defeating conference foe Lees-McRae College 3-1 and losing to USC-Aiken 3-0 in a non-conference matchup at Belk Arena.
Against LMC (1-14,0-3), Erskine (3-8, 2-3) served 19 aces, including five by sophomore
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School). Erskine breezed through the first two sets winning 25-19 and 25-12 as LMC struggled with their service return. The Bobcats won the third set 25-21 to force a fourth set. The Fleet won the decisive fourth set 25-21 to win the match.
Erskine was led by Sullivan's seven kills and four blocks in addition to her five service aces. Junior setter
Megan Johnson (Little River, SC, Scholars Academy) had 17 assists along with 7 digs while senior libero
Anna Butrym (West Columbia, SC, White Knoll High School) had a game-high 15 digs as well as four aces.
Haydn Beatty led the Bobcats with a game-high 11 kills and 5 blocks.
In the Fleet's second game, USC-Aiken (9-4) used their depth on offense, nine players had a kill, and strong defensive backline, 66 digs, to hold the Flying Fleet to a negative hitting percentage. Freshman
Marissa Mayfield (Durham, NC, Riverside HIgh School) led the Fleet with a career-high 7 kills along with 5 digs. Butrym shared a game-high 13 digs.
For the Pacers, setter Amanda Bologna earned a double-double with 32 assists and 13 digs. Leah Rogers led the offense with 8 kills.
Erskine plays archrival Anderson University next Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
