Road woes continue for Fleet

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Wilson and Mt. Olive, N.C. – The Erskine Women's Volleyball Team lost their two road conference games this weekend.  Last night the Flying Fleet lost 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18) to Barton College and fell to Mt. Olive by the same score 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 26-24).

Erskine has played their first seven games on the road, posting a 1-6 record.

Against Barton (2-5, 1-0), Erskine struggled with their serves and serve returns, committing nine service errors and twelve receiving errors.

The Fleet were led by Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School), who had 14 kills and 7 digs, while sophomore Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) contributed 11 kills.  Junior setter Megan Johnson (Little River, SC, Scholars Academy) had her second consecutive double-double of the year with 29 assists and 16 digs.  Junior Anna Butrym (West Columbia, SC, White Knoll High School) anchored the back row with a team-high 19 digs.

Today the Fleet lost to Mt. Olive (3-7, 2-0) 3 to 1.  The Fleet struggled offensively with only a .103 hitting percentage for the match.  Freshman Allie Evans (Frisco, TX, Frisco High School) recorded her first collegiate double-double with a career-high 11 kills and 12 digs while fellow freshman Marissa Greenough (Laguna Beach, CA, Laguna Beach High School) also posted a career-high 9 kills along 11 digs and 6 blocks.  Johnson extended her double-double streak to 3 games with 26 assists and 12 digs.  Butrym recorded a game-high 21 digs on the back row.

After playing their first seven games on the road, the Flying Fleet play four games at home this coming week.  The Flying Fleet kick-off the week on Wednesday against Converse College.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
