Due West, S.C. – Georgia College stopped Erskine’s four game win streak today, downing the Fleet 8-1 in non-conference men’s tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Complex.
After doubles play, Erskine trailed 2 to 1.
Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) and
Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) edged Johan Wadstein and Yannick Hass 8-6 to secure a point at #1 doubles.
Dean Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and
Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) played well at #2 doubles but lost the match 8-4.
Unfortunately, the Fleet’s quality play did not extend into their singles matches as they lost all six in straight sets.
Erskine hosts local rival Lander University this Thursday.
