Wingate, N.C. – Erskine lost to #26 nationally ranked Wingate University 9-0 this afternoon in non-conference men’s tennis action at the Wingate University Tennis Complex.

Erskine fell behind quickly in the match losing all three doubles matches.

In the six singles competition, Wingate won the singles matches in straight sets except at #2 singles.  Sophomore Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) won his opening set 6-3 but Wingate’s Neal Towson took the second set 6-4 and won the tie-breaker set 10-4.

Erskine currently stands at 0-4 on the season.  The Fleet will look for their first win this Friday against conference foe Barton College.  The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
