Erskine climbs in conference standing, beats LMC 73-63

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Having already clinched a spot in the upcoming conference tournament, Erskine took another step to improving their seeding with a 73 to 63 win over conference foe Lees-McRae College tonight at Belk Arena.

The final score was the closest Lees-McRae got in the second half as Erskine extended a nineteen halftime lead to as many as twenty-five points.

Leading by five points midway through the opening period, Erskine used a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach.  Junior Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) started the run with a tip-in and Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) and Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) both hit 3-point shots as Erskine held Lees-McRae scoreless for almost a full eight minutes.

Erskine maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half allowing Head Coach Mark Peeler to play all sixteen players.  The Bobcats outscored the Fleet 16-1 over the last four minutes to trim the lead to the final score of 73 to 63.

Senior Corey Sorrell (Walton, KY, Holy Cross High School) and juniorDeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) led the Fleet with 18 points apiece.  Perkins had 15 points along with 2 more blocked shots.  The freshman wing player currently leads the conference in blocks with 38.  Gore had a game-high 9 rebounds.

Daniel Sepokas and Jeremiah Henry both came off the bench to lead the Bobcats in scoring with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Erskine hosts conference-leading Barton College this Saturday night.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
