Box Score Spartanburg, SC – Erskine squashed Converse in three straight sets (27-25, 25-20, 25-8) in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action at Tom and Tracy Gym.

Senior Lauren Stewart (Hartwell, GA, Hart County High School) continued her outstanding play knocking down a game-high 17 kills while sophomore Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) contributed 14 kills, 5 digs and 3 service aces.  Senior Bailey Thornton (Pauline, SC, Dorman High School) anchored the back row with 11 digs.

For Converse, Katie Butler led the Valkyries with 10 kills.  Aubrey Crosby had a game-high 14 digs.

After falling behind 15-10 in the first set, Erskine stormed back to win 27-25.  Alicia Bragg (Rock Hill, SC, Rock Hill High School)started the rally with a thunderous kill followed by Bullock’s three service aces.  Stewart had 5 kills in the comeback.

With the momentum in their favor, Erskine powered through the second set winning 25-20.  After exchanging the first four points, Erskine took the lead for good on a kill by Bullock.

By the third set, Erskine was in complete control limiting the Valkyries to just 8 points and a -.120 hitting percentage.

With the win, Erskine improves to 4-7 overall and 4-2 in conference.  Converse remains winless on the season at 0-16 overall and 0-6 in conference.

Erskine travels to Pfeiffer University this Friday night.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
