Due West, S.C. – The Erskine women’s volleyball team will kick off their 2012 campaign at home against South Atlantic Conference member Brevard College on Wednesday, September 5
th at 7:00 p.m. at Belk Arena.
Afterwards the Flying Fleet will fly to Duluth, Minnesota to participate in the University of Minnesota-Duluth Classic on September 7
th and 8
th. The Fleet will square off against two national powerhouses in the tournament: #6 University of Minnesota-Duluth and #12 Ferris State University.
In addition to Brevard College, Erskine will play three other members from the South Atlantic Conference: Carson-Newman College, Newberry College and archrival Anderson University. Newberry concluded last season ranked #7 in the final NCAA Southeast Regional Poll.
The Fleet will also play in a three-team tournament at Augusta State University on Saturday, October 20
th before wrapping up the season with a five game home stand.
Since resurrecting the program three years ago, Erskine has not had a losing conference record and has earned a bid to the postseason conference tournament each of the last three years. In 2010, Erskine made it to the conference championship match, losing to Lees-McRae College.
