Dahlonega, GA – Erskine lost to North Georgia 8-1 this afternoon in non-conference men’s tennis action at the North Georgia Tennis Complex. Erskine drops to 3-7 overall while NGU climbs to 9-2 on the season.
Erskine struggled early dropping two of the three doubles matches by a score of 8-0. At #2 doubles, sophomore
Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) and freshman
Connor Roy (Greenville, SC, Travelers Rest High School) fought hard but lost the point 8-6.
In singles competition, West won the Fleet’s lone point in a stellar match decided in the tie-breaker set. West won a tight set 6-4 over Rodrigo Magan but appeared to be in trouble after being shutout in the second set 6-0. However, in the tie-breaker, West prevailed 11-9 to win the match. West has been the Fleet’s most consistent player this season at 6-4, winning his last three matches. Erskine lost the other five singles matches in straight sets.
Erskine hosts local in-state rival Newberry College on Wednesday starting at 2:30 p.m.
