Box Score Hartsville, S.C. – After dropping the first set Erskine shook off the effects of the long bus ride to pound the Cobras of Coker College 3-1 (19-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-13) in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action at Timberlake Lawton Gym.
The Fleet allowed 17 kills by Coker in the first set then held them to just 19 kills in the remaining three sets.
The Fleet also served a season-high 16 aces, including a career-high 8 service aces by sophomore
Anna Butrym (West Columbia, SC, White Knoll High School).
Senior
Lauren Stewart (Hartwell, GA, Hart County High School) continued to shine for the Fleet knocking down a game-high 12 kills with 4 digs and 2 blocks. Freshman
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) had a nice all-around game from her middle hitter position recording 9 kills, 6 blocks, 5 digs, and 4 assists.
Liz Massey (Greenville, SC, Eastside High School) had a team-high 12 digs to go along with 6 kills.
Taylor Willis led the Cobras with 10 kills while April Griggs had 8 kills and 3 blocks.
Erskine improves to over .500 for the first time this season at 9-8 while climbing to 8-2 in conference. Coker drops to 5-5 in conference and 5-15 overall.
Erskine is back in action tonight against Brevard College at home. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
