Box Score Banner Elk, NC – Lees-McRae College shot a blistering 62% from the field, including a sizzling 15 for 19 from 3-point range, to down the Erskine Flying Fleet 82 to 68 in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action at Williams Gymnasium. Erskine shot a solid 50% from the floor and was 10 of 19 from long range. The loss drops the Fleet to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in conference while the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College improve to 3-9 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Outside of the opening minutes of the game, Erskine never led in the game. Erskine scored the first six points then misfired on their next five possessions allowing the Bobcats to score fifteen unanswered points. The Fleet kept the Bobcat lead to single-digits until the closing minutes of the first half. The Bobcats used an 8-0 run with just under five minutes remaining to take a double-digit lead. Lees-McRae College led 45-31 at the half.
In the second half, Erskine cut the Bobcat lead late in the half to five points on a three-point shot by sophomore Travis Liner. The Bobcats responded with consecutive three-point baskets by Corey Young and B.J. Battle to stretch their lead back to double-digits. The Bobcats won 82-68.

Corey Sorrell (Walton, KY, Holy Cross High School) led the Fleet with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore
Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Boone County High School) contributed 15 points and 6 assists while sophomore
Travis Liner (Charlotte, NC, Northside Christian Academy) came off the bench to score a personal season-high 12 points on four three-point shots.
The Bobcats had five players finish in double-figures. D.J. Brown scored a game-high 22 points by going a perfect 6 for 6 from long range. Jeremiah Henry earned a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Battle finished with 17 points while Asad Lamot and Daniel Sepokas added 15 and 11 points respectively.
Erskine travels to Barton College this Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
