Sandra Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, USC-Upstate) pounded out 17 kills to lead Erskine past Converse in straight sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-12) in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action at Hannah Gymnasium. Erskine improves to 15-7 overall and 10-2 in conference. The Flying Fleet have won eight of their last nine games. On the flip side, Converse falls to 2-17 overall and 1-11 in conference.
Campbell finished with a .519 hitting percentage along with 2 digs and 3 blocks. Junior
Lauren Stewart (Hartwell, GA, Hart County High School) added 10 kills while setter
Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) had 35 assists directing the Fleet offense. Defensively
Brooke Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) had a season-high 20 digs for a 3-set match.
The Fleet held Converse to a .000 hitting percentage. Anna Williams led the Valkyries with 6 kills and Aubrey Cosby finished with 8 digs.
Erskine returns to action next weekend in the Lander University Crossover Tournament. The Flying Fleet will play two games on Friday against Montevallo and Armstrong Atlantic University and two more games on Saturday against USC-Aiken and host Lander University.
