Erskine Volleyball Slams Mount Olive 3-0

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Erskine Volleyball started slowly in the first set before rolling past the Trojans of Mount Olive College 25-16, 25-17, and 25-11 for a Conference Carolinas road win at Kornegay Arena.

Mount Olive jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage in game one, and the Trojans (3-10, 1-4 in Conference Carolinas) maintained the lead until near the midpoint of the set.  Erskine, now 8-1 in league play and 10-5 overall, rolled off the last six points to win the opening set. Junior Sandra Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, Point Pilot HS) had three of her match-high 11 kills over that stretch to pace the Fleet.

Erskine enjoyed a three- to four-point cushion for the first half of set two before pulling away, then quickly took control of set three, jumping out to a fast 9-3 advantage following several Mount Olive hitting miscues. The Trojans finished with more attack errors (23) than kills (22) in the match.

Junior Jamie Murray (Hermann, MO, Hermann HS) had nine kills in the Erskine win, while Brooke Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School) had 12 digs, Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) had 27 assists and Gabby Dierickx (Simpsonville, SC, Hillcrest High School)had three aces.

Mount Olive was paced by Erika Conner’s seven kills and four digs.
