Gaffney, SC – Erskine rolled past Limestone 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-22) in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action at the Timkin Center. With the victory, Erskine (17-10, 13-4) secured the #2 seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament that starts next Tuesday.
Erskine used a late surge to win the first set. The first set had ten ties and four lead changes before Limestone committed three consecutive errors giving the Fleet a 19-15 advantage. At that point the Fleet cruised to the 25-20 victory.
It was all Erskine in the second set as the Fleet flew out to an 18-4 lead before closing out the set 25-11.
The Fleet came back from an early 8-3 deficit to tie the set at 21-21. Junior Sandra Campbell (Pilot Point, TX, USC-Upstate) capped off a three point run by the Fleet with an impressive kill to give the Fleet a 24-21 lead. After dropping a point, the Fleet won the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
Campbell led the Fleet with a game-high 15 kills while sophomore Liz Massey (Greenville, SC, Eastside High School) just missed her third consecutive “double-double” with 8 kills and an impressive 21 digs, a game-high. Sophomore Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) directed the Fleet offense with 30 assists along with 7 digs.
Limestone’s Holli Dawson finished with a team-best 6 kills and 13 digs. Rebecca Kerrison had a team-high 14 digs while setter Danielle Seibert had 19 assists.
Erskine concludes their regular season at home this Friday night against Coker College at 7 p.m. Pairings for the conference championship tournament will be announced on Saturday, November 6th.
