Anderson Defeats Erskine 3-0

Anderson, SC – Archrival Anderson University defeated the Flying Fleet in straight sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-19) in non-conference women’s volleyball action at the Abney Athletic Center.  The Fleet slip to 15-9 on the season while Anderson climbs to 17-10.

The Fleet started poorly with Anderson claiming an early 11-2 lead and cruising to 25-14 victory in the first set.

The Fleet battled in the second set with the lead changing hands eight times.  Unfortunately, the Trojans claimed four of the last five points to win the set 25-21.

In the third set, Anderson jumped out quickly to a 12-3 lead and lead by as many as thirteen points at one point.  The Fleet closed to within six before Anderson claimed the last two points to win the set 25-19 and the game 3-0.

Senior Alison Albers (Goodhue, MN, Iowa Lakes CC) led the Fleet with 11 kills and 2 blocks.  Setter Larz Chabra (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Wando High School) earned 20 assists while Brooke Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School)had 15 digs.  Sophomore Liz Massey (Greenville, SC, Eastside High School) had a team-high 3 blocks for the Fleet.

The Fleet go on the road this weekend playing Pfeiffer University on Friday at 7 p.m. and Queens University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
