Due West, SC – The Francis Marion University Volleyball Tournament has not been kind to the Flying Fleet as they dropped two games today and finish the tournament 0 and 4. In the first game today, Erskine faced the University of Alabama – Huntsville. The UAH Chargers had just enough to beat the Fleet in straight sets 25 to 20, 25 to 19, and 25 to 23. 

Erskine’s next opponent was host school, Francis Marion University. Once again, the Fleet came up short, falling to FMU in 4 sets 25 to 16, 25 to 17, 16 to 25, and 25 to 20. Liz Massey (Greenville, SC/Eastside H.S.) led the Fleet attack with 13 kills while Bailey Thornton (Pauline, SC/Dorman H.S.) paced the defense with 21 digs while Alison Albers (Goodhue, MN/Iowa Lakes CC) contributed 4 blocks. 

With today’s losses, the Flying Fleet tumble to 2-7. The Fleet play their conference opener on Tuesday at Limestone College at 7 p.m.
