Erskine Beats Coker

Secures spot in Conference Tournament

Hartsville, SC – The Flying Fleet came back from a 2 to 1 deficit to beat Coker College 3 to 2 Saturday afternoon and secure a spot in next week’s postseason conference tournament.  Erskine dropped a very close 1st set 24 to 26, but bounced back in the 2nd set winning 25 to 18.  The Cobras rallied to win the 3rd set 25 to 21 before Erskine put them away in the final two sets 25 to 16 and 25 to 11.  Erskine improves to 9-6 in conference and 12-16 overall.

 

Leading the Fleet on the day was Liz Massey (Greenville, SC/Eastside H.S.) with 18 kills and 14 digs.  Alison Albers (Goodhue, MN/Iowa Lakes CC) also contributed 15 kills along with 5 blocks.  Larz Chabra also continued her stellar play with another “double-double” with 52 assists and 11 digs.  On the defensive side, Brooke Dodge (Duncan, SC/Byrnes H.S.) once again led the Fleet with 25 digs.

 

With the victory, Erskine secured a spot in the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament.  The Fleet are currently in 6th place but could move into a tie for 5th place with a win tomorrow night against archrival Anderson University.  First serve is set for 7 p.m.
