Volleyball loses to LMC

Loss snaps 4 game win streak.

Banner Elk, NC – “Too many errors,” were the words used by Head Coach Heather Vahjen to summarize today’s road match against the Bobcats of Lees-McRae.  Erskine lost to LMC in straight sets 24-26, 18-25, and 17-25.  But Coach Vahjen is optimistic that her young team can play with the conference powerhouse.  “We played extremely well defensively.  We blocked well and Brooke Dodge had an amazing game on the back row.  We just could not get our offensive going,” remarked Coach Vahjen.  The loss snaps a four game conference win streak, dropping the Fleet to 5-4 in conference play and 7-11 overall.

On the day, Alison Albers (Goodhue, MN/Iowa Lakes CC) continued her strong play in the middle leading the Fleet with 10 kills and 5 blocks.  Defensively, Brooke Dodge (Duncan, SC/Byrnes H.S.) had several incredible digs, totaling 15 on the day.

Erskine’s schedule gives them a break until next weekend.  The Fleet play Barton College Friday night at 7 p.m. and Mt. Olive on Saturday at 2 p.m.
