HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow quarter of an hour to begin the afternoon, the Fleet were the ones to first ramp up the intensity and were rewarded minutes later.
Valentina Santana made three saves in a span of two minutes to keep the game scoreless before
Soleil St. Hill punished the SWU backline. In the 22nd minute, the freshman forward won possession of a Warriors defender high up the field, dribbled into shooting range and calmly slotted her shot over the SWU goalkeeper's outstretched leg and into the bottom left corner to give Erskine a 1-0 lead. The visitors controlled possession throughout most of the remainder of the match, but Erskine defended stoutly and were led by 10 saves in goal by Santana to keep the Warriors off the board and preserve Erskine's lead, which held up until the final whistle, earning the Fleet their first win of the season.
THE PLAYER
Freshman forward
Soleil St. Hill scored the match's only goal with a calm finish after relentless high-pressure in the 22nd minute, as the Miramar, Florida native opened her collegiate account with what proved to be a match-winner on Wednesday.
