David Berger joined the Erskine College baseball coaching staff in 2026, bringing a unique combination of collegiate baseball success, executive leadership, and community development experience to the Flying Fleet program.

A standout pitcher at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, Berger is one of the most accomplished pitchers in Fighting Knights history.  Berger is among the single-season and career record holders in several pitching stats (wins, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched, appearances, games started) during his two seasons with the Fighting Knights.

Berger earned a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration from Lynn University in 1998. In 2020, he received Lynn University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, one of the institution’s highest honors, recognizing graduates who have achieved exceptional professional success while making a significant impact through leadership, service, and mentorship. 

At Erskine, Berger assists with player development, recruiting, and mentoring student-athletes while helping cultivate a championship culture rooted in The Fleet Way. 

Away from the diamond, Berger has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years in the hospitality and economic development industries. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Partner at Greenville, SC based Hospitality America after executive leadership positions with Marriott and Hilton Hotels. He is also the founder of Community Hub LLC, a Greenville-based development company focused on revitalizing downtown districts through locally owned hospitality and mixed-use developments that strengthen local communities.

Berger resides in Simpsonville, South Carolina, with his wife, Kristine. They have been married for 25 years and have two children: a daughter who attends the University of South Carolina and a son who attends Southside Christian School.
