Carlos Smith

Carlos Smith joined the Flying Fleet prior to the start of the 2025 season and will serve as the Wide Receivers Coach for Erskine.

Prior to Erskine, Smith spent five seasons at Riverside High School in Greer, South Carolina, as the Wide Receivers Coach for the Varsity Team and the Offensive Coordinator for the JV Team. Before Smith and the rest of the staff arrived in 2020, Riverside hadn't won game in over three years, and he helped Riverside accomplish things that hadn't been done in the previous 20 years at the school.

Smith also has five years of coaching experience at the youth football level, where he coached the Upstate Titans, located in Greenville, South Carolina. Smith led the Titans to a national championship in 2020, multiple state championships and twice being ranked in the top 15 nationally.

A 2004 graduate of Greenville High School, Smith was ranked the #3 wide receiver in the state and earned the opportunity to play in the North-South All-Star Game, where he was coached by fellow member of the Flying Fleet staff, Chris Williams.

Carlos began his walk with Christ in 2008 and says it has been a ride and he credits the Lord for having His favor over him and allowing him to be able to coach six of the same kids at the youth and high school level, one of which is currently on the Erskine roster.

Affectionately known as Coach Los, Carlos is married to his high school sweetheart, Ellyia, and the two have four children: Lyndez, Lavender, Layla-Rae, and Carlitos.
