DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (0-5-1, 0-4-0 CC) was defeated by Southern Wesleyan University (3-3-1, 1-1-1 CC) by a score of 2-0 at Lundy Field on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the eighth minute, Southern Wesleyan nodded themselves in front with a headed goal from a set piece to put the Fleet in an early deficit. The Warriors doubled their advantage in the 40th minute, and after
Joe Roberts' shot on goal was saved, the Fleet went into the break trailing 2-0. Erskine started the second half positively and were rewarded in the 58th minute, when
Marcos Martinez Loureiro won a penalty for the Fleet, in what appeared to be creating a path back into the match for the hosts. However, the ensuing penalty kick was saved and the Fleet were unable to generate enough threats in the final half-hour, coming up short in a conference home battle on Wednesday.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Southern Wesleyan 14 to 9, while the Fleet had a narrow 4 to 3 edge in shots on target. Both teams finished the match with three corners, and SWU committed 14 fouls to Erskine's 13.

Erskine goes on the road to take on North Greenville University (1-4, 1-1 CC) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
