ROME, Ga. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (2-5, 2-4 CC) defeated Shorter University (1-8, 1-5 CC) by a score of 1-0 at Ben Brady Field on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the second and final meeting of the regular season between the teams, it was the hosts who opened the scoring early with a 7th-minute goal to take the lead. The Fleet responded well after going behind and created numerous chances to draw level throughout the match and came extremely close to finding an equalizer but some tough luck and seven saves from the Hawks goalkeeper kept Erskine off the board.

"As a season progresses, match scores across the conference tighten. Everyone gets more familiar with one another. We created some beautiful opportunities tonight. We hit the crossbar multiple times. I'm proud of our guys. Their continued growth, maturity, and genuine joy are fun to watch as they play together. We'll get back at it and prepare for the weekend."

THE TEAM
Erskine outshot Shorter, 21 to 13, and had a 7 to 6 advantage in shots on target, as well as a 4 to 2 advantage in corner kicks.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine finishes this road stretch with a tall test at Young Harris College (8-0-1, 7-0-0 CC) on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
