THE MATCH
Facing a team in it's inaugural season, the Fleet looked to rebound from their rough start to the 2021-22 season with a win over Converse in a home match, but things did not go the Fleet's way early. Saying that Converse started the match strong would be a vast understatement as they scored 2 goals in the first 8 minutes of play. Erskine seemed to struggle with the pressure that Converse was placing on the Fleet defense to go along with the high pace game the All-Stars wanted to play. Play seemed to even out as the match went on and going into the half, the Fleet only trailing in shots taken by a single attempt, but still trailing 2-0. In the second half and the 61st minute, Junior
Andres Rojas gave the Fleet life with a header on an assist by
William Mashburn. This seemed to spark the Fleet attack and create a bit more urgency on both sides. As the competition level rose, so did the drama and intensity, with 5 of the match's 8 yellow cards being given in in the last third of the match. Despite a valiant effort and extreme effort from the Fleet, they could not find the equalizing goal and fell by a final score of 2-1.
THE TEAM
Erskine was out shot by Converse 17-11 for the match, with Converse also gaining the edge in shots on target, 8-5.
