Erskine Women's Basketball | Fleet fall at Emmanuel 89-54

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Erskine women's basketball team (0-2, 0-2 CC) dropped its second consecutive game to begin Conference Carolinas play with an 89-54 defeat at Emmanuel (6-0, 4-0) on Tuesday.

THE SERIES
Emmanuel boosted its record to 8-5 against the Fleet and have now won five straight in the series. Erskine has not won at Emmanuel since the 2017-18 season.

THE GAME
The Fleet fell behind early as Emmanuel scored 32 points in the first quarter to take a quick 20-point lead. Sophomore Osha Makerson scored all 12 of Erskine's points in the opening quarter. The Fleet and Lions were mostly even in the final three quarters but the damage had been done. Breanna Locke (20 points and 15 rebounds) and Jazmin Allen (15 points) paced Emmanuel to the home victory. 

THE PLAYER
Osha Makerson led the way for Erskine with a game-high 27 points on 10-24 shooting from the field including five three-pointers. This is Makerson's second consecutive game to open the season with 20+ points. Makerson also grabbed 5 rebounds and tallied 4 steals in the loss.

THE TEAM
Erskine shot 21-61 from the field (34%) including 7-28 from beyond the arc (25%) but were just 5-12 from the free throw line. Emmanuel shot 48% from the field including 12-20 from the three-point line. Erskine turned the ball over 13 times which the Lions converted for 20 fast break points.

WHAT'S NEXT 
The Fleet are back in action at home Thursday evening when they host NAIA school, Allen University (0-0, 0-0) at 5:00 p.m. at Belk Arena.
 
Erskine is unbeaten against Allen, winning all four meetings in the series with the most recent matchup being a 93-60 road victory back in 2014.
