DUE WEST- Senior defender Sam James capped a chaotic final five minutes with a goal with 1:55 remaining to give #3 Erskine an improbable 2-1 comeback win over #6 Emmanuel in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. With the win, Erskine advances to face #7 Mount Olive in the semi-finals which will be hosted by top-seeded Chowan.

Emmanuel's Channing Park scored at the 23:11 mark to give the Lions a 1-0 lead for the majority of the match. The Fleet pounded shots on the Lions' goal for most of the match, without result. The Fleet managed 22 shots on the day to Emmanuel's 6. The situation looked bleak for the Fleet when senior Matt Perry's penalty kick was batted away by the Emmanuel goalie at the 75 minute mark. The Fleet finally got on the board at 85:23 when Perry hit a beautiful cross that freshmen Vincent Stulec headed into the right corner of the net, evening the match at 1-1. Less than three minutes later the ball ended up in the box and after much commotion, Sam James laced the winning goal in the back of the net which set off a massive celebration as the Fleet advanced to the semi-finals for the first time in seven years.
