Due West – The Erskine College Flying Fleet defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University 65-56 tonight in Belk Arena. The Fleet overcame an early second half push by the Falcons to notch their 7
th win in a row and 9
th in their last 10 games!
The first half featured a great defensive performance from the Fleet. Erskine held Pfeiffer to 21 points on 26.7% shooting. Erskine also played solid on the offensive end of the court. The Fleet scored 32 points on 33.3% shooting.
Myranda Parham was the leading scorer with 17, and
Naomi Stuger pitched in 10 points.
Raygon Hendrix led the Fleet with 7 rebounds, while
Myranda Parham and
Kristin Giles accumulated 5 boards.
The second half saw the Falcons come out with an early push to force an Erskine timeout. Coach
Russ Gregg calmed the girls down and they began to play solid basketball again. Pfeiffer eventually took the lead, and with 6:10 remaining they had their largest lead of the game at 52-45. The Fleet were poised and up to the challenge as they ended the game on a 20-4 run. Erskine was lead tonight by the super freshman
Myranda Parham. Myranda had 29 points on 12-18 shooting.
The Fleet look to continue their phenomenal run tomorrow night as they take on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College. Game time is set for 7:30 P.M.
