Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (17-11, 15-7) wrapped up their regular season with a 58 to 54 win over the visiting Lions of Emmanuel College (17-9, 13-9) tonight in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Belk Arena.
 
After trailing by five points early, Erskine's Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) scored eight straight points, igniting an 11-0 run that gave the Fleet the lead for good.  Hendrix hit two three-point shots sandwiched around a penetrating drive for a layup.
 
Erskine built their lead to as many as nine points before Emmanuel closed the half with a 9 to 3 run to trim the Fleet lead to three points at 29 to 26.  Four of the Lions' nine points came from the charity strip.
 
In the second half, Erskine extended their lead thirteen points and appeared set to run away with the game.  Sophomore Kristin Giles (Union, SC, Union County High School) converted a four point play and Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA, Governor Mifflin High School) split the defense for a layup.
 
Using a technical foul call on the Fleet, the Lions scored eleven unanswered points to draw within two points with 30 seconds remaining.  The Fleet went 6 for 6 from the free throw line to seal the 58 to 54 victory.
 
Erskine had three players finish in double-figures, led by Andrienne Bannerman's 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Hendrix came off the bench to tally 13 points while Giles had 10 points.  Senior Haleigh Spaulding (Ocala, FL, Vanguard High School) scored a season-high 9 points while handing out 6 assists.  She also pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds.
 
With the win, Erskine marches into the conference tournament on a four game win streak.  Erskine, the #4 seed, will host a conference tournament game for the first time in six years this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. against #5 seed Barton Bulldogs.
