Dahlonega, GA – The Flying Fleet's fourth quarter rally came up short as Erskine fell 73-65 to Francis Marion in their season opener.
Trailing 68-53 with 5:36 to go in the game, Erskine (0-1) would go on a 6-0 run capped off by a layup from
Naomi Stuger to make it a nine point game.
Megan Marrah would then hit two free throws to cut the Patriot (1-0) lead to 69-61, but that would be as close as the Fleet would get as Francis Marion held on for the win.
Marrah led the Fleet scoring 18 points while pulling down a game high 11 rebounds while Kristen Giles added 10 in the loss.
Erskine returns to action tomorrow as the face North Georgia at 4:00 pm
