Andrienne Bannerman (Wilmington, NC, Pender High School) posted a double-double but the Erskine Flying Fleet (7-6, 5-2) came up short, losing 66 to 54 to the King University Tornado (9-4, 4-3) tonight in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Belk Arena.
Midway through the opening period, King scored ten unanswered points, capitalizing on two Erskine turnovers, to grab a 16 to 7 lead.

Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School) scored on a nice pass from teammate Haleigh Spaulding
Haleigh Spaulding (Ocala, FL, Vanguard High School) to trim the King lead to six at intermission.
Erskine remained within striking distance until halfway through the second half. King put together a 16 to 2 run to take their largest lead of the game at 60 to 41. The Fleet made it interesting with just under two minutes when Bannerman drilled a 3-pointer to get the Fleet within nine at 63 to 54. The Fleet failed to convert on their next possession, sealing the victory for the Tornado.
Bannerman scored 10 points while pulling down 11 rebounds for the Fleet. Sophomore
Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA, Governor Mifflin High School) led all-scorers with 21 points.
King had three players finish in double-digits. Chelsea Bowling and Amy Van Deventer both scored 20 points while teammate Tia Keitt contributed 10 points. Jalan Harper led the Tornado on the boards with 9 rebounds.
Erskine travels to face Limestone College this Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
