Andrienne Bannerman (Wilmington, NC, Pender High School) posted her third double-double of the season to lead the Erskine Flying Fleet (7-5, 5-1) to a 75 to 55 win over visiting Pfeiffer University Falcons (3-7, 2-4) tonight in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Belk Arena. Bannerman filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, steal, and a block.
The Fleet never trailed in the game as sophomore
Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA, Governor Mifflin High School) drilled a three-point shot on the Fleet's first possession. By the midpoint of the opening period, Erskine led by eleven points and held a comfortable thirteen lead at intermission.
Pfeiffer opened the second half, trimming the Fleet lead to just four points at 46 to 42 after a short jumper by Carlisha Holivay. The Fleet responded with a 13 to 2 run, highlighted by an old-fashion three-point play by sophomore
Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School). Bannerman also contributed four of her ten points during the run.
Espinosa posted a team-high 18 points and teammate
Kristin Giles (Union, SC, Union County High School) knocked down 13 points.
For Pfeiffer, Meg Pritchard scored 18 points while pulling down a team-high 8 rebounds.
Erskine concludes their three-game home stand this Wednesday against the Tornado of King University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
