Erskine falls on the road to King 64 to 49

Box Score Bristol, Tenn. – The Erskine Flying Fleet lost on the road to the Tornado of King University 64 to 49 tonight in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at the Student Center Complex.

For the second game in a row, junior Tara Potter (Charlotte, NC, Bandys High School) posted a double-double, scoring a team-high 20 points and 12 rebounds.  Potter was the only Fleet player to reach double-figures.  Freshman point guard Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) finished with 9 points while handing out 5 assists.

For King, Bonnie Durrett came off the bench to record double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds, both game-highs.  Teammate Sydney Harris contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds.

With less than nine minutes left in the opening period, King hit back-to-back 3-point shots to take a lead at 19 to 13, a lead they would never relinquish.  King led by four at halftime.

The Fleet stayed within two possessions of King until midway through the second half when King stretched their lead to double-digits on a 9-0 run.  King went on to win the game 64 to 49.

Erskine returns home for their next two games.  On Saturday the Fleet host the Bobcats of Lees-McRae.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
